This inn was originally built in 1907 by the Italian Tarabino brothers. It is rumored to be haunted by a ghostly lady wearing a gown. She is mostly seen at the bottom of the stairs. Phantom cigar smoke and the sound of footsteps have also been reported here.

  • I think I offended the lady of the house

My friends and I stayed in the basement apartment a few summers ago on our way home from a road trip. Immediately upon arrival, I knew something was up. The whole time we were unloading our things I felt an overwhelming and creepy sense that something was there- not anything bad, just some kind of energy watching us. After enjoying dinner and spending time exploring downtown, we came back to the apartment to clean up and settled in to watch TV for the evening. Having just showered, my hair was still wet and piled in a bun on top of my head, and I was wearing an oversized T-shirt and jogger pants. Since it was a bit stuffy in the apartment I pulled the cuffs of my joggers above my calves to cool off. Out of nowhere, a very random thought popped into my head. It was that if the people who had lived in the house back in its heyday saw me, they would be appalled at how unladylike I looked compared to how women would put themselves together back then. My appearance was unacceptable! I acknowledged to myself that it was such a weird thing to pop into my head, then went back to watching TV. Maybe ten minutes later, I felt something pull the cuff of my joggers above my left calf down my leg and to my ankle. And no, it did not simply slide down my leg, it was pulled down- WITH FORCE- to my ankle. After reeling from what happened, I even tried to replicate the feeling by pulling the cuff back up above my calf and moving my leg to make it fall on its own (even though my leg was perfectly still when the cuff was pulled to my ankle). Since the cuff was tight, there was no way to get it to move down my leg on its own. I now know the thought of how unladylike I looked wasn’t so random after all. Something there didn’t appreciate my chill mode aesthetic and needed to let me know. Trust me when I say the message was heard loud and clear!
